Dr. Kathy Kallay believes
that animals should be cared for in a conscientious,
responsible manner. Education is an important part of
her relationship with clients, because better-informed
clients have longer, healthier relationships with their
pets.
Dr. Kallay is committed
to provide exceptional customer service and the highest
quality medical care.
Dr. Kallay's medical
interests include Internal Medicine, Behavior, and
Surgery.
Dr. Kallay is the
Veterinarian-in-Charge and owner of Four Paws Animal Hospital and
Wellness Center, Inc. Dr. Kallay is a native of
Southern California. She moved to Fredericksburg in 2001
following graduation from the College of Veterinary Medicine at
Kansas State University. She has been practicing veterinary
medicine locally since 2001.
Dr. Kallay is a member of the
American Veterinary Medical
Association (AVMA), the Virginia Veterinary Medical
Association (VVMA), the American Society for the
Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA),
Therapy Dogs Inc., and
Phi
Zeta, a veterinary honor
society.
Dr. Kallay adopted each of her
pets from animal shelters. Her pets include Scarlett, an 9-year
old spayed Black and Tan Hound mix; Merlin, a 7-year old
neutered Hound/Border Collie mix; and Angus, an 12-year old
neutered Domestic Shorthair cat. She is a strong advocate of
spaying/neutering as the preferred method of controlling pet
overpopulation.
Community service is a way of
life for Dr. Kallay. She has been a
puppy-raiser for Canine Companions for Independence
(CCI), and performs therapy visits in the community with her dog Scarlett.
Dr.
Danielle Burchett grew up in Chesterfield County, just south
of Richmond, Virginia. She graduated with a bachelor's degree in
Animal Sciences from Virginia Tech and as a Doctor of Veterinary
Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of
Veterinary Medicine. A true Hokie at heart, she still travels
back to Blacksburg each Fall for football games and tailgating
with friends.
Dr. Burchett grew up with a menagerie of critters at home and
enjoys working with not only dogs and cats, but other small
animals as well, including guinea pigs, mice, rats, hamsters,
gerbils, chinchillas, and ferrets (to name a few). She currently
has four pets in her household: a Pomeranian named Roxie, a
rescued Sphynx (hairless cat) named Ramses, and 2 other domestic
cats (Joker and Piccolo).
Dr. Burchett is a member of the
American Veterinary Medical Association and the
Virginia Veterinary Medical
Association. She is also fluent in French and invites any
fellow francophones to parlez francais with her. In her
free time, Dr. Burchett enjoys snowboarding, camping, and
hiking, and is currently learning to knit, and sew. She also
enjoys spending time with her two nephews, Leo and Wesley.
